- Antarctica
Top of the list has to be Antarctica if nothing else, due to the number of species that can be seen there throughout the months of February and March. You will need to book well in advance if you want to secure a place on one of the tours that take you out to see the variety of whales, including orcas, humpbacks, sperm whales, minke and even blue whales.
- Iceland
If you visit Iceland between the months of May and September then you will likely see humpback whales, there is even the chance of seeing blue whales or even sperm whales on the same trip. The other great thing about the location of Iceland in September is that you could also experience seeing the Northern Lights.
- Australia
If you visit the South Coast of Australia in the months of May through to November then you could go whale watching in Narooma, humpback whales, especially, gather in the waters from Narooma to Eden each year to feed before moving on as part of their yearly migration process. There are various tours available and sites to see as you are taken out on a mini voyage into the open seas in search of the breathtaking nature that lay in store.
- The Maldives
This iconic location offers the chance to see up to 20 different species of whales and dolphins and, although they travel to and past other parts of the world, the Maldives is where they consider ‘home’ to be. If you didn’t know, the Maldives are also one of the most tropical places you could visit, many couples take advantage of the beautiful setting for their honeymoon.
Where would you choose?
When making your choice you’d have to consider the climates as the different locations can quite literally be ‘polar’ opposites of each other when it comes to the weather, if you don’t mind the cold weather then, Antarctica and Iceland would be the place to go, if, on the other hand you prefer somewhere a bit warmer then Australia’s South Coast or The Maldives would be a better choice.
